PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated September 2026

The short version

Pool Pals is built for a private group of friends to track pool games together. To make that possible, your profile and game results are synced over the internet using Firebase (a cloud database service from Google) so everyone in your group sees the same scoreboard in real time. We don't sell your data, show ads, or share it with advertisers.

What we collect

The display name you enter, an optional nickname and tagline, an avatar (either an emoji or a photo you choose to upload), and the game results you or your groupmates log (who played, who won, when, and any optional note). If you choose to create an account (see below), we also collect your email address, and if you allow notifications we store your device's push token. We never collect your phone number or precise location.

Who can see your data

Everyone in your group can see your name, avatar, and game history — that's how the shared scoreboard works. Nobody outside your group can see it.

Profile photos

If you choose a photo instead of an emoji avatar, it's stored in our cloud database so it can sync to your groupmates' devices, the same as your name and game results. Photos are only visible to people in your group.

Cloud storage & Firebase

Pool Pals uses Google Firebase to store and sync data. Firebase acts purely as our hosting infrastructure — we don't use any Firebase analytics, advertising, or tracking products, and Firebase does not use your data for its own purposes. Data is stored on Firebase's EU servers.

Group codes

Your group's invite code is stored on your device and in our database so people you share it with can join. Anyone who has your group's code can join that group and see its scoreboard, so only share it with people you want in your group. Nothing about your group is published publicly or shown to Pool Pals users outside it.

Optional account & cross-device sync

You can use Pool Pals fully without ever creating an account. If you choose to sign in with an email address and password, we use Firebase Authentication (also from Google) to manage that securely — we never see or store your password ourselves. Signing in lets you restore your groups and profile on a new device. We only use your email to manage your account; we don't email you marketing or share it with anyone else.

No ads, analytics, or tracking

We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics tools, or third-party trackers, and the app contains no ads. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, your device is given an anonymous push token by Apple, which we store alongside your player profile so we know where to send alerts. We use it only to tell you about activity in your own groups — a game you played in, a new result, someone joining. Notifications are delivered through Apple's Push Notification service. You can turn notifications off at any time in Me → Notifications, or in iOS Settings, and the token is removed when you do.

Data retention & deletion

Go to Me → Leave Group to remove your profile from a group's shared database and from this device. Because game results are shared history for the whole group, games you already played remain part of your group's records after you leave, the same way a final score doesn't disappear from a scoreboard once the game's over — but they're no longer linked to an active profile of yours. If you've created an account, Me → Delete Account permanently deletes your account and removes your profile from every group you've joined. To request full removal of your data from our systems, contact us using the details below.

Children

Pool Pals does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app does not require any personal information to use.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how Pool Pals handles your data, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date above.
